Collins Auction, Thailand’s newest classic and collector car auction company, has set a new benchmark for the Thai classic and collector car community with its grand launch at the Amata Spring Classic d’Elegance on December 14, 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with the Classic Car Association Thailand and Bangkok Classic Car, introducing a never-before-seen format for classic car auctions in Thailand, raising the bar for the industry.
Founded in 2023, Collins Auction is an innovation leader in the Thai classic and collector car market. The company offers a unique platform that caters to the diverse needs of collectors. Collins Auction offers a variety of services including real-time online auctions accessible from anywhere in the world, exclusive live auctions featuring premium vehicles, private auctions for large collections, and a space for car enthusiasts to connect and share their passion. With this cutting-edge concept, Collins Auction provides an exciting experience in collecting classic cars, meeting the specific needs of each collector, and maximizing benefits for both buyers and sellers. Sellers can sell their cars at the right price and at their own pace, while buyers have the exclusive opportunity to own the rare cars they desire.
The inaugural auction featured legendary car models with deep roots in Thailand and achieved impressive success. The highlight was a 1964 Land Rover Series IIA with a fascinating history, starting at 99,000 baht and soaring to a final price of 500,000 baht, despite being in need of restoration, reflecting the resounding success of the auction and the strong market excitement.
Other notable models included:
- A rare right-hand drive 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo from the first production lot
- A 2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition, number 505 of 1,000 produced worldwide
- A 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT, believed to be one of only 13 officially imported into Thailand
- Two original 1973 Porsche racing posters celebrating the brand’s dominance in 1970s motorsport
Collins Auction demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by donating 100,000 baht from the proceeds of the event to the Ramathibodi Foundation to support public health, medical research, and the development of medical personnel.
Collins Auction has launched its real-time online auction website, collinsauction.co.th. This platform provides buyers with access to a wide range of rare and desirable cars, complete with detailed descriptions and high-quality photos for transparency. Sellers gain access to a wider range of buyers, increasing the value of each car through competitive bidding.
Compared to traditional private sales, the introduction of professional auction services could be a game-changer for the classic and collector car industry, setting new standards for pricing benchmarks, increasing market transparency, and enabling both buyers and sellers to make more informed decisions in this niche market.
