depa together with Prachin Buri Province jointly announced the success of the development of Si Maha Phot District to become a smart city as a Smart Living model under the Si Maha Phot Smart Living Showcases Project by applying digital technology and innovation in 3 important areas. The development aims to improve city and quality of life and to respond directly to the right needs of local people, as well as to pave the way for a livable smart city of the country in the future.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of Digital Economy Promotion Agency or depa said that the success of this project is due to the collaboration of all sectors in the area in finding solutions for city and quality of life enhancement; and integrating high quality and standardized digital technology and innovation developed by Thai digital startups registered with depa. The digital technology and innovation are applied to solve the city’s pain points and to respond to the needs of the people at the right point in 3 important areas, including:
Security – by installing additional 30 CCTVs connecting to existing CCTVs and intelligence system to increase tracking efficiency, governing, detecting abnormality before analyzing and processing the data. This is to enhance safety of life and property for people in the area; and increase traffic management efficiency. In addition, there is also a LED billboard installation, aiming to publicize and communicate news and Smart City updates that are beneficial to people in the area.
Education – by providing digital upskilling activities to 60 teachers from Si Maha Phot School and Mathayom Watmaikrongtong under Princess Sirinthon Patronag School. The activities included the 21st century skills development training and Si Maha Phot Education Showcases in digital education. This is to equip teachers with readiness in applying technologies and increase 21st century skills which can be integrated in teaching and learning for leading to the most effective study for students in the digital era.
Public Health – by encouraging and supporting medical personnel and village health volunteers (VHVs) to be able to apply medical devices in recording and monitoring elderly health data; including more than 200 patients under the supervision of Si Maha Phot District Public Health. The data are recorded in CM Square system, which is a tracking system for dependent care people to formulate caring plan for the elderly and patients with prompt, quick, accurate, comprehensive, and more efficient services.
“For driving the development of Si Maha Phot to become a livable smart city, we still need to work together in setting a common goal for local people about driving Si Maha Phot Smart City in the future. Having architectural design of a new city and creating City Data Platform will be an important part in expanding the Project’s results from Smart Living to other Smart areas,” said depa’s President/CEO.

Ms. Jarunee Kavin, Chief of Prachin Buri Governor’s Office stated that all Si Maha Phot people wish they could see positive changes in the area, which means better quality of life and well-being of all, leading to extended and enhanced the district’s potential to be a smart city model in sustainable Smart Living. He also sincerely hopes this collaboration in designing city area will inspire and can be a role model for neighboring areas and other cities. Consequently, they can apply the lesson learned as a driving mechanism to develop their own areas towards a smart city model in an appropriate context of Smart Living that is suitable with the people, the communities, and the areas.
For 2023 depa has planned to expand the success of developing the area to become a smart city model in Smart Living in 5 provinces as guidelines in driving the development of smart cities in Thailand.
