Sripatum University (SPU) identifies Digital Supply Chain and Sustainable Technology as key trends transforming Thailand’s logistics landscape. Emphasizes the integration of AI and IoT to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and promote sustainability. Announces new Intelligent Supply Chain and Data Analytics short course to equip the workforce for the New S-Curve industries.
The College of Logistics and Supply Chain, Sripatum University (SPU), has unveiled key trends shaping the logistics industry in 2025. Digital Supply Chain is identified as a critical factor in revolutionizing Thai logistics, leveraging digital technologies like AI to optimize supply chain management, reduce costs, and enhance global competitiveness.
Asst. Prof. Dr.Tharinee Maneesri, Dean of the College of Logistics and Supply Chain at SPU, stated, “Currently, Thailand’s logistics capabilities rank 34th globally and 3rd in ASEAN. The government aims to propel Thailand to 25th place by 2027. Particularly in the agricultural and food export industries, valued at over 1.8 trillion baht, integrating digital technologies into the Digital Supply Chain is crucial for Thai businesses to achieve sustainable growth.”
Sustainable Technology is another significant trend aligning with the global sustainability movement. Sustainable Supply Chain focuses on minimizing environmental impact throughout the supply chain by utilizing technologies like AI for production planning, optimizing transportation, reducing energy consumption, and IoT for product tracking, quality control, and minimizing waste.
“Digital technologies not only contribute to cost reduction, efficiency gains, and environmental protection but also foster transparency and elevate the competitiveness of Thai businesses, aligning with global economic development trends,” added Asst. Prof. Dr. Tharinee.
The College of Logistics and Supply Chain at SPU is committed to developing cutting-edge programs that meet labor market demands, particularly the Digital Supply Chain & AI program, which focuses on producing skilled professionals equipped to support New S-Curve industries such as high-value agriculture, food, and pharmaceuticals.
“The Digital Supply Chain & AI program is a significant step towards developing Thailand’s logistics industry into a leading Asian logistics hub. The development of Cold Chain technology to maintain product quality from source to end consumer is particularly vital for global exports,” explained Asst. Prof. Dr. Tharinee.
The College, in collaboration with leading partners like the Thai Logistics Federation (ThaiLog), Thai Transportation and Logistics Association (TTLA), and Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA), will launch a new short course on Intelligent Supply Chain and Data Analytics. This program emphasizes digital technologies, AI, and sustainability.
The course covers key subjects such as Digital Supply Chain Management, Lean Supply Chain Automation, Supply Chain Data Analytics, Supply Chain Simulation for Decision Making, and Sustainable Supply Chain Management.
“A key highlight of this program is the hands-on experience gained through practical work with partner organizations. Learners will develop Up-skill and Re-skill competencies for the digital economy and enhance their future career prospects,” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Tharinee.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Tharinee concluded, “Reducing logistics costs, which account for 13-15% of GDP, is crucial. A 1% reduction can save the economy over 100 billion baht annually. This program will cultivate specialists capable of leveraging digital technologies and AI to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and drive Thailand towards becoming a sustainable Asian logistics hub.”
